Lakeview Real Estate
Why New Orlean's Lakeview is a Top Pick
Lakeview is resilient. Much of this neighborhood was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but since then it has sprung back to life with home transformations, new businesses, and new construction properties. As its name suggests, New Orleans's Lakeview community lies along Lake Pontchartrain, and home buyers can find their choice of upscale lakefront homes.

Anything you want, Lakeview likely offers it. This includes older and brand new homes, condos, waterfront properties, and bungalows, though single-family homes are the majority on the Lakeview real estate market.
Residential development took off after World War II in New Orleans's Lakeview community starting with smaller bungalows, and by the late 1900s, upscale homes were constructed in the neighborhood and close to the Lake Pontchartrain lakefront.
Fun fact: Much of the Lakeview area was covered in swampland before the 1900s. In the early 1900s, the New Basin Canal was built to connect Lake Pontchartrain with the heart of New Orleans, and the Lakeview neighborhood developed into a sought-after lakefront destination, starting with the West End resort.
... To Lakefront Paradise
Today, Lakeview still remains a desirable place to live along the lake. Waterfront homes connect residents with their desired lakefront activities and beautiful views, and commercial development soon followed the residential development. Lakeview is close to the New Orleans Yacht Club and Southern Yacht Club.
While all the fun of Lake Pontchartrain is just moments away in Lakeview, this New Orleans neighborhood is close to plenty of attractions in the city. Right beside Lakeview is New Orleans City Park, a 1,300-acre park that's home to the New Orleans Botanical Garden, Equest Farm, New Orleans Museum of Art & Sculpture Garden, a golf course, and so much more. Not far away is the University of New Orleans, a public university located right on the lake.
And with its location adjacent to I-610, Lakeview is within easy reach of other New Orleans neighborhoods and points of interest.
