Government Services

New Orleans and the surrounding areas have a number of DMVs—new residents must visit a DMV in-person to apply for a new license. Existing residents can renew licenses and registrations online. Ochsner Medical Center has consistently ranked as the best hospital in the state, while Tulane Medical Center is a teaching hospital that specializes in every possible field of care. New Orleans Public Schools and Jefferson Parrish Public Schools serve a combined total of 62,500 students throughout the New Orleans Metro area, not counting the charter school population. Both districts offer an innovative school choice program, as well as countless charter options.
