  • Slidell offers homes ranging from bulkheaded lots on the water to large tree-shaded half acre lots on the golf course.

  • If waterfront homes are your choice, Slidell is the first area to consider in the New Orleans area. In particular, the Eden Isles development offers waterfront property on a navigable waterway just off Lake Pontchartrain.

Fun Facts

  • Slidell was founded in 1882 during the construction of the railroad line that connected New Orleans to Meridian, Mississippi.
  • The town was named in honor of John Slidell, a lawyer and polititcian born in New York, but who lived many years in Louisiana. He served as one of Louisiana's U.S. Senators from 1853 until 1861.
  • Today, Slidell is a major suburb of New Orleans, but also supports the nearby Michoud Assembly Facility in eastern New Orleans and the Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
  • The greater Slidell area has a population of approximately 90,000 residents.
