River Parishes Overview
St. Charles and St. John Parishes are locally known as the River Parishes. The largest communities are Destrehan, Laplace and Luling.
The River Parishes have much to offer:
- Convenience to the city as well as the airport
- Homes and lots are relatively large for the money
- New construction is readily available
- School systems, especially in St. Charles Parish, are highly regarded
The commute from the River Parishes is of course longer than from East Jefferson and the Westbank, but generally shorter than from the North Shore.
