New Orleans Homes: Real Estate Solutions for Buyers and Sellers

The North Shore

Not so long ago, Slidell, Covington, Mandeville and Madisonville were sleepy little towns set within a giant pine forest. Times have changed, to say the least.

The North Shore is the fastest growing area of Louisiana. That expansion has resulted in excellent restaurants, shopping centers and other amenities expected in a bustling suburb. However, the laid back lifestyle remains, as do most of the pine trees.

If your work is on the south shore of the lake, you are faced with a 30 to 80 minute commute depending on weather and traffic conditions. Some of our clients enjoy the drive, taking time to organize their days or just relaxing. Others find the drive monotonous and not worth the time and effort.

The commute aside, there are some good reasons to consider the North Shore.

  • You can get more home and for your money compared to the south shore
  • Lots are generally larger than in other areas
  • The public school system in St. Tammany Parish is one of the top-rated in Louisiana

The map below presents an overview of the North Shore. The black numbers denote MLS areas outlined by the black boundary lines. If you are familiar with our area, these MLS areas can be helpful in requesting property information.
