  • East Jefferson - the close-in suburbs of Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge and Harahan have charms of their own.
  • The Westbank - Just across the Mississippi River from the city, you can find Belle Chasse, English Turn, Algiers, Gretna and Harvey.
  • The River Parishes - St. Charles and St. John Parishes which lie upriver from New Orleans. Cities here include Destrehan, Luling and Laplace.
  • The North Shore - Areas due north of Lake Pontchartrain. Larger cities are Mandeville, Covington and Slidell.
