Just west of New Orleans between the lake and the river is one of the New Orleans area's most popular communities.

Prices vary greatly depending on location, size and age. New construction is not readily available in most Metairie neighborhoods, and in some areas, homes are being torn down to recapture the lots.

Old Metairie in MLS area 19 may be of special interest to those who enjoy the historic areas of New Orleans. With its massive oaks and fine homes, this area reminds of the Uptown area, though set away from much of the hustle and bustle of the city.

Some of the best health care facilities, restaurants and shopping areas are located in Metairie. If you are considering a move to the New Orleans area, you will probably want to look in Metairie because there is much variety and quality from which to choose.
